Passed away unexpectedly on February 5, 2025 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Gloria Schalk (nee Rich) for 58 years. Loving father of Laura Schalk (Michael Davis), George III (Claudia) Schalk, and Karen Semanski (fiancé Jesse North). Proud grandpa of Rachel (Austin) Anderson and Jack Semanski and great grandpa of Bobbi Georgi. Dear brother of Karl (the late Barbara) Schalk, the late Maureen (the late Larry) Narey, Paul Schalk (Nancy Trapp), Margaret (Ken) Thompson, Ray (Lisa) Schalk, and Richard (Susie) Schalk. Fond brother-in-law of Joan (Dominic) Giuffre. Further survived by loved cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

George was born in Marshfield, WI. The family later moved to Waterford, WI where he grew up on the family farm. After high school he became a Master Barber from 1966-2023. In that time, he operated and later established his own business known as Frank’s Modern Barber Shop.

He loved his family and always put everyone else first before himself. He was known for making people laugh and smile, always loving and generous without asking for anything in return. We hope he is remembered for all the good he did. He provided comfort, earned respect, and fostered camaraderie.

What makes a “great” barber? “The kind of barber who understands us and our uniqueness, like the way he treats his customers hair. The type of barber who is friendly and kind, always welcoming with a smile and a friendly hello”… that would be George, also referred to as, “Frank the barber”.

Visitation will be held at Max A. Sass & Sons-Mission Hills Chapel (8910 W. Drexel Ave., Franklin, WI 53132) on Tuesday, February 18 starting at 10AM until time of service at 1PM. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in George's name would be appreciated to either the Wisconsin Humane Society, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or to Make a Wish.
