Gary Kanzora, loving husband and father of two daughters lost his courageous battle with cancer on Thursday November 12th, 2020 at the age of 75. He was preceded in his death by his parents, Ray and Dolores Kanzora and survived by his wife Susan (Susie), his 2 daughters Nicole (Nickie) Stone and Colleen Kanzora, and his sisters Judy Kanzora and Gail Schroeder. Gary was born in Milwaukee on June 7th, 1945. He was the middle child of 3. He shared his love for cool cars with his older sister Judy, but he shared the same circle of friends with his younger sister Gail. When Gail married Gary’s best friend, Art Schroeder, the shared friend and family network only grew stronger. Gary met the love of his life, Susie, through this circle of friends. He asked her to a dance at a local hangout called Marty Zivkos and they were married a short time later. They had 2 daughters, Nickie and Colleen and they celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary in October. Gary was a great salesman. He could easily have a conversation with anyone and always had a joke or a story to share. He worked for Taylor Electric for many years, selling records to the local record stores. When they went out of business, Gary took his skills to Monroe Equipment Company selling HVAC equipment until he retired. Since he was not quite ready to stop working completely, Gary took a part-time job with Cardinal Health, delivering medical supplies to local hospitals. He enjoyed the job and the many friendships he formed there, which kept him there for 13 years until his failing health eventually forced him to stop working. He was a smart dresser and was still looking dapper until the very end. Golf and grilling were his two favorite summertime activities. He perfected grilling corn on the cob which was a summertime staple at the Kanzora house. Once retired, he spent several days a week on the golf course with a variety of friends and family members and managed to do so through September 2020. I think his love for music has been memorable and influential to everyone who knew him. When I hear certain bands, artists or songs I think of Gary and I’m willing to bet you all have at least one memory of him like that also. Irving Berlin, one of the great American composers, once said “The song is over, but the melody lingers.” That is how I think about Gary. He may be gone, but his memory will live on. A Memorial Gathering will be held at Max A. Sass & Sons-Mission Hills Chapel on Sat., Nov 21 from 9-10:15AM. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at ST. APHONSUS CATHOLIC CHURCH (6060 W. Loomis Rd., Greendale) at 11AM. Please meet at church; doors to the church will open at 10:30AM.
