Francis Harold Duffy


Born November 14, 1922 in Mauston, Wisconsin; died peacefully in Milwaukee February 15, 2023. Loving husband of Edna (nee Kowalczyk) for 74 years. Survived by children and their spouses: Edward and Sandi (nee Haybeck) Duffy, Diane Duffy, Ruthann Duffy and Michael Olschewsky, Jane Duffy, and Timothy and Paula (nee Johnson) Duffy. Also survived by brother Leo; grandchildren Aaron and Melissa Duffy, Michael and Angela Duffy, Kathleen and Jeff Cuila, Lt JG Timothy Duffy Jr., Steven and Emma Heimerl, Matthew and Rebecca Heimerl, and Thomas Duffy; and great-grandchildren Zachary, Bridget, MaryJean, Felicity, Elizabeth, Annabelle, Madeline, Scarlett, and Abigail. Preceded in death by parents Frank Henry and Agatha (nee Noonan) Duffy, and siblings Thomas, Raymond, Edmund, Gerald, and Helen.


Harold served in World War II on Coast Guard LST shuttling troops, supplies and wounded to and from Battle of the Bulge, Omaha and Utah Beaches, North Africa, among others. Harold was a mason and a proud member of Bricklayers’ Local 8 Union for over 50 years. He was also a charter member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.


Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (3722 S. 58th St., Milwaukee) on Saturday, February 25th from 10-10:45 AM. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 AM. Burial along with Military Honors will be held on Monday, February 27th at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Gilman, WI at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Harold's name are appreciated to either Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or to St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Gilman, WI (315 E. Davlin St., Gilman, WI 54433).
