Francis "Fran" Owen

July 9, 1948 — August 5, 2022

Francis “Fran” Owen Passed into eternal life on Friday August 5, 2022 with his family by his side. The love of his life was Terry. No two people could be more different yet compliment each other so fully. They were the true meaning of a partnership. Almost 50 years of marriage was highlighted by travel, projects (Terry was the mastermind, Franny was the executor) and time with their children and grandchildren; their life was built on simple moments like early morning coffee talks before work and nightly family dinners. Fran’s latter years presented challenges, which he and Terry faced head on. The time spent in the hospital demonstrated his true character. Even in his most challenging moments of suffering he always had a kind smile or comment for the nurses and staff caring for him. Fran was proud to be an electrician at the Chrysler Kenosha Engine Plant (retired in 2009) with a work ethic that would rival any other. He had previously spent 29 years at Ladish Corporation in Cudahy. He believed a job worth doing was worth doing well and continued his efforts beyond retirement helping his daughters with all their DIY dreams. Fran never slowed down. His favorite things were auto racing, golf and The Villages. His love of racing started early on the short tracks of Wisconsin and grew to be a cherished hobby with his friends. A few highlights were yearly trips to the Knoxville Nationals, standing in NASCAR Victory Lane with his son in law at Daytona and seeing his grandson win his first race at Slinger Speedway. An avid golfer, the precise game was perfect for a guy with such an attention to detail. His favorite place in the world was The Villages in Florida and he was glad to have spent his winters in the warmth golfing during the day and listening to live music on the square at night, especially Rocky and the Rollers. Fran wasn’t a big conversationalist but was so very genuine that you couldn’t help but love him after one meeting. His patience, kindness and hopefully his frugal attitude will live on in all who knew and loved him. Fran is survived by his loving wife Terry, his children Leslie and Cortney (John) and his high spirited grandchildren Penn, Paige, Anne and Alice. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters in law, much loved nieces and friends. In lieu of flowers, a memorial scholarship is being created in Fran’s honor to help a Muskego High School graduate pursue trade education. As a journeyman electrician he took pride in his career and would be happy to provide assistance to a young person on that same path. If you would like to contribute to this fund please contact his family. Visitation will be held at St Leonard Catholic Church (W173 S7743 Westwood Drive, Muskego) on Tuesday August 16 from 9-9:45AM with Mass at 10:00 am.
