Florence T. Whipple

At the age of 91, Florence entered the God’s Loving Embrace on Ash Wednesday surrounded by “Team Flo,” the nieces who doted on her. She is survived by her sister and best friend, Loretta (the late Harry) Chojnowski. She is further survived by her loving nieces and nephews: Judy (the late Wally) Kroupa, Robert (Beverly) Chojnowski, Patricia (Dennis) Miliacca, Mary (Randy) LaRock, William (Michelle Oddo) Chojnowski, Jane (Jeff) Sizemore, and niece-in-law, Elaine (the Late Donald) Thoennes. Florence is further survived by many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings; Henry (Marie), Norbert (Esther) Grzybowski, and Dorothy (Victor) Thoennes as well as nephew, James Thoennes. Florence truly lived her Catholic faith and spent countless hours after retirement from Wisconsin Bearing immersed in volunteer acts of service both to her parish, St. John Paul II, and to St. Francis Hospital. Pinnacles of Florence’s life were her pilgrimages to the Vatican, holy sites in Italy, and Medjugorje. Florence was an avid reader and she enjoyed sharing her knowledge by engaging eagerly in discussion over meals shared with loved ones. Her favorite card game was progressive rummy and she reveled in “the win.” Florence was a vehement Wisconsin sports fan. She loved to cheer on the Badgers and Brewers, but would quickly shut off the TV or radio if her team was losing. Her gentle heart and endearing personality left a major imprint on the lives of her loved ones. A visitation for Florence will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Saint John Paul II Parish (St. Helen Church 3329 S. 10th St. Milwaukee, WI 53215) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. Following the mass, Florence will be laid to rest at St. Adalbert Cemetery. Florence’s family wishes to extend sincerest gratitude to the caring staff at St. Francis Place for their kindness, especially Elizabeth, Steve, Jodi, and Michelle.
