Woida, Eugene R. 88, of Green Lake and formerly Milwaukee, was softly welcomed into the Lord's arms on Friday June 15th, 2007 with his family at his side. He is survived by his precious wife, Florence (nee Iglinski), who would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary together in August. Gene is the cherished father of Jeanne (Jim) Schmidt of New Berlin, Nancy (Tim) Klafka of Peoria AZ, Larry (Lynne) of Fox Point, and Mary (Mike) Saindon of Milwaukee and the proud grandpa of Kim, Scott, Kelly, Jay, Jonathon, and Lauren and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by twin sisters, Rita (Stanley) Wyszkowski and Theresa (Robert) Laughrin and brothers George (June), Edward (Mary), and Franklin (Helen). Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Veronica and Ignatius; infant twin siblings, Adam and Eva; sister Adeline;and brothers Daniel, Jerome, and Emil. Gene served with the 5th Division Red Diamond Infantry in Iceland, France and Germany during WW II where he recieved the Bronze Star among many other medals and commendations. He was a member of the George Washington Post 180 American Legion in Bay View for over 60 years. He retired in 1981 from General Electric after 36 years of service and moved to green Lake for the fishing and small town life. He never met a dance floor he didn't like. Visitation on Friday June 22nd at St. Helen Catholic Church, 3307 S. 10th Street, from 9 AM until time of service. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Interment at St. Adalbert Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the Waukesha Memorial Hospital ICU nursing staff and Dr. Leech, Dr. Harland, and Dr. Holzmacher for their compassionate care and kindness that was given to Gene and his family.
