Eugene K. Schwartz

February 25, 1936 — April 21, 2021

Eugene “Gene” K. Schwartz Passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife of 60 years and surrounded by his children on April 21, 2021 at the age of 85. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Patricia (nee Otto). Devoted father of James (Carol), Markus (Kimberley Noon), Michael (Paula) and Debbie (Eric) Aschenbrenner. Proud grandfather of Cassandre (Brandon) Jackson, Nicholas Schwartz, Paige (Cody) Spinler, Josh and Jacob Schwartz. Great grandfather of Khylie, Harper, Connor and Aubrey Jackson. Preceded in death by his parents and brother Norman. Survived by his loving siblings, sister Helen Jean (the late Tom) Thomae, and Robert (Mona) Schwartz. Further survived by his in-laws Nancy Otto, Richard Otto, Carol (Elaine Vokoun) Von Ott and David Holdorf. Also survived by other loving family and friends. Gene was born on February 25, 1936 in Neva, Wisconsin and graduated from Antigo high school. He formed his own orchestra in 1951 at age 15 and played at all the area ballrooms. He enlisted in the army in 1957 and served 3 years. He was stationed in Sobe Camp Okinawa. Gene married the love of his life, Patricia, on July 8, 1961. He worked at Selig Executive Leasing for 32 years and retired in 1998. Gene loved retirement! He was an avid walleye fisherman and hunter. He formed the band “Hank and Gene’s Polka Stars”, they could be heard playing throughout SE Wisconsin often at Art’s Concertina bar. He created, produced and hosted “Its Polka Time” airing on Channel 14 for over a decade. He was also active in the West Allis Chamber of Commerce. Visitation at Max A. Sass Funeral Home, Mission Hills Chapel, on Friday May 7, 4 PM – 7:30 PM. Vigil service at 7:30PM. A brief visitation at St. Martin of Tours, 7963 S 116th St, Franklin, on Saturday May 8th from 10 AM to 10:45 AM with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Entombment to follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Horizon Home Hospice in Gene’s name appreciated. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the caring staff of the VA Medical Center, Home Instead Senior Care and Horizon Home Hospice for their compassionate care of Gene.
