Esther M. Barth

Esther M. Barth Greenfield - Esther was born May 29, 1925, to Frank and Mata (nee Kohn) Denn in Shawano, WI. She attended schools in Shawano and was an alumnus of Shawano High School, with a special interest in foreign language. She took an early interest in music, learning to yodel, and following the music careers of her cousins at The Grand Ole Opry. Esther married Gale Barth on November 30, 1944 in Shawano, WI. They were blessed with three boys, Clair, Larry and John. At the close of the war, the family moved to Milwaukee, and, later built a large new home with their own hands in Greenfield. The family loved to travel, seeing a large portion of the country which instilled a love of the National Parks that continues. Esther and Gale were very proud of their children, sending all three off to college, two earning advanced degrees and two serving in the military. After their children left home Esther and Gale continued traveling the country with a special love for Padre Island, Texas. After Gale's passing in 1994, Esther enjoyed her home, extensive garden and the friendship of many neighbors. She moved to Layton Terrace in 2016 enjoying the many friends and staff there. Esther was preceded in death by her husband Gale, son Larry, daughter-in-law Doris Barth, father Frank Denn mother Matta Kohn, and sisters Dorthey, Isabell, Sylvia and brother Roger. Survivors include her sons Clair and John, grandchildren Scott and Daniel, multiple great-grandchildren and daughters-in-law Velma and Marian. All who knew her were astonished by her energy and zest for life. Even at the hospital she wanted her walking shoes saying; I have places to go, people to meet and things to see. Her journey continues. Graveside service will be at Highland Memorial Park 14875 W. Greenfield Avenue New Berlin, WI on Thursday, February 18 at 2:00 PM.
