Esther B. Potrykus

Potrykus Esther B. Age 92, died January 8, 2010 at Palm Meadows Court Memory Care Center, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. A native of Milwaukee, Esther was the daughter of Edward Skrzypczak and Catherine Pietruszynski, and sister to Delores Gaffke (deceased). Esther married her high school sweetheart Harry Potrykus (deceased), a marriage that lasted 64 years, and was the loving mother of Robert Potrykus of Athens, Texas and Thomas Potrykus of Callawassie Island, South Carolina. Survived by sons Robert and Thomas, daughter-in-law Susan Potrykus, grandsons Robert Potrykus, Jr., William Potrykus, Steven Potrykus, David Potrykus, Paul Potrykus and grand daughters Lisa Thompson, Jill Bridges and eleven great grandchildren. Esther, a kind and loving person, will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Esther was born in Milwaukee, had her first home in the Town of Lake, and moved to Elmhurst, Illinois with her husband and sons in 1957. Esther and Harry built a lake house at Whitewater Lake, Wisconsin in 1955 which is still owned by the family. After retirement, the Potrykus? lived at Whitewater lake in the summers and were ?snowbirds? visiting their winter home in Clearwater, Florida for 27 years. Visitation at the Max A. Sass & Sons Funeral Home on Friday January 15, 2010 from 4-6 PM with a 5:30pm prayer service. Funeral service will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church (3307 S. 10th St) on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 10 AM. Entombment St. Adalbert Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of The Basilica of St. Josephat, 2333 So. Sixth Street, Milwaukee, WI 53215.
