Pritchett, Emmet L. "Dick" Born to Eternal Life Thursday, August 20, 2009. Age 86. Husband of the late Naomi "Toots" (nee Morgan). Beloved husband of Judith (nee Gudgeon). Loving Father of Gail Nikki (Wayne) Berczyk, David (Teresa) Pritchett, Michael (Charlene) Phillips and Joey Gudgeon. Father Figure to Tom (Jill) Grice. "Grand PA" of Tom (Kahla) Berczyk, Kelly (Brian) Puerner, Kephren, Luke, Allie, and David E., Jennifer, Jessica, JJ, and Oliver, Ashley, Jami, Michael and Marcus Grice. Great-grandfather of Diane (Dennis), TJ, Brittany, Dylan and Addison. Brother of Mel (Rita) and Robert (the late Florence). Further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends. Visitation at the Funeral Home Tuesday, August 25, 2:00-6:00 PM. Funeral Service 6:00 PM. Private entombment at Arlington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation. As a young and prosperous young man Dick worked hard in the mechanical and electrical trades forming partnerships with two brothers as electrical contractors R.C. Electric. Then a real-estate and management firm REM Enterprise active in the 1970s and 1980s revitalizing Milwaukee's East Side as owners and management of the Oriental Theater, Landmark Lanes and Oriental Drugstore. Dick loved being part of Milwaukee contributing to the community with an active role in the 1960s developing Milwaukee's first Parent Teacher Association with the public schools. Then the Board of Directors to the Milwaukee Christian Center, providing programs for the Elderly and Teens, focusing on South Side community Development. As a talented singer and musician from the 1940s through the 1970s Dick played around town in Country Bands like the Lonesome Travelers and eventually formed a band called Easy Does It, performing old standards at weddings, parties and every Friday night at the Milwaukee Moose Club on South 13th Street. Sometimes Dick would just show up at V.A. Hospital with his guitar and sing to the residents to share his love for life. Above all Dick loved his family and friends his passion was people. If a friend were in need Dick was there. He loved life and lived well, and will continue to live on through the lives of those blessed by his good will and inspiration. He will be missed. Max A.
