Elizabeth "Lisa" Maki

August 7, 1959 — February 25, 2022

Elizabeth Maki, “Lisa” (nee Pauly), age 62, passed away peacefully after a 15-month battle with cancer on Friday, February 25, 2022. Lisa is survived by Bob Maki, her loving husband of over 33 years, and was a loving mom to her daughter, Claire Maki. Lisa was the daughter of the late Bette and Frank Pauly. Her beloved extended family members include her sister, Nancy Pauly, brother, Mike and Terrie Pauly, and brother, Bob and Ginney Pauly. Lisa found great joy in being an aunt to Sarah Rankel (Jimmy), Tim Pauly (Celina), Andrew Pauly (Bekah), Nick Pauly and Matt Pauly (Bailey), and great-aunt to Nora and Liam Rankel, and Vaughn and Stassi Pauly. She is further survived by two aunts and many loving cousins. Born on August 7, 1959, in Green Bay, Lisa grew up in Green Bay and belonged to St. Matthew Parish where she attended grade school. She loved the tight-knit families that lived around the parish who contributed to a childhood of many wonderful memories. Lisa was a 1977 graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Green Bay and a 1982 graduate of UW-Eau Claire where she earned her degree in education. Lisa earned her Master’s degree in Special Education from UW-La Crosse in 2008. She married Bob Maki in June of 1988. They bought a home in Muskego and resided there for 33 years. Lisa taught for almost 30 years, spending the majority of her career at Rawson Elementary of the South Milwaukee School District. She retired in 2016 and was a caregiver to her mother until her mom passed away in August of 2020. Lisa loved to play Pickleball after she retired. Lisa had a lifetime of fun and building memories at her family’s cottage on the bay of Green Bay. Lisa cared deeply about her family and her friends. She loved being a mom to Claire and loved attending activities and sporting events in which Claire participated. Lisa wanted to thank Dr. Raza and his team at the Pro Health/UW Cancer Center in Mukwonago who helped with her battle with cancer. She also wanted her family and friends to know how much she appreciated the love and support they provided during the last 15 months. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at 11:00 AM at SAINT SEBASTIAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5400 West Washington Boulevard in Milwaukee. Visitation at the Church begins at 9:30 AM on Thursday. In remembrance of Lisa’s life, donations can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
