Elizabeth Anne Glowacki-Niemer Milwaukee - Born February 4, 1935. Died February 4, 2021 Age 86, of Milwaukee, WI, died peacefully on Thursday, February 4, 2021. Bette was born In Milwaukee, the daughter of Walter and Frances Glowacki. She was educated at Saint Mary's Academy, and continued her education at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Her paintings were concerned with Conceptual journeys into the abstract, with subtle acknowledgment to historic precedence. Bette loved to travel. She took her son on many trips during his youth. They traveled together to places such as Arizona, California, and South Dakota. When her son graduated with his M.S. degree, which he earned at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, she spent six weeks in Alaska traveling about with him. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son Benjamin "Jay" Mattes, Benjamin's children Dylan Andre and Arielle Helena Mattes, her sister Florence Lyles, her caregiver Felicia, and other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Jerome and Wallace, and her sister Helen Kruszka. Visitation will be at the Max A. Sass & Sons Funeral Home, 1515 W. Oklahoma Ave., on Sunday, February 21, from 2 - 4 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Paul II Parish - Saint Helens Catholic Church, will be held on Monday, February 22, at 10:30 AM, with Fr. Esteban Redolad officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Adalbert's Cemetery.
