Edward Tom Geniusz

May 1, 1939 — December 8, 2018

The amazing, eccentric, and favorite uncle and brother Edward Tom Geniusz left this world the night of December 8, 2018. He was a mentor, artist, and intellectual titan. He labored for over half a century as a slide curator for the State of Wisconsin, at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He described his own work in a self evaluation and series of self portraits that truly capture his sense of humor and personality: "Performance evaluation compiled by Eric Von Stroheim: Between August 17, 1998 and February 18, 2000 the lantern slide curator has compiled, accessioned, demonstrated, maintained and managed the developed, the slide collection in a most exceptional manner. The over five thousand dollars worth of supplies required to research, shoot, bind, label, and accession some 5,200 new slides; to repair some 409 slides and to purchase two slide storage cabinets were provided by the curator. Also 1,433 35/60 uncompensated hours were given to his adoring public. If one builds a better slide collection the world will beat a path to it. Last year a maharani begged a roll of his silver mylar tape and then strangled herself with it. Geniusz is the greatest of them all and intends to remain so." In the afterlife, we hope he was greeted by sinuous, gold and red dragons, that great crowds of his fans and loved ones lined Lake Drive, and that Greta Garbo herself leaned over a railing to strew flower petals at the great Emperor returning home. Antinous stood with him in the chariot whispering that he is now a god. Edward Tom Geniusz 1939-2018 Private family services.
