Edward L. Strickler
Peacefully left us surrounded by his family on August 27, 2022 at the age of 70 after a long battle with COPD. Loving husband of Amelia (Amy) Strickler. Beloved dad of Sharon Strickler (Brian Stase) and Heather Strickler (Daniel Rhoades). Dear grandpa of Joseph Contreras and Lillian Stase. Loving brother of Ann (Michael) Armenta and Sharon (Steve) Shahan. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ed graduated from West Allis Central in 1970. He was a printer and worked in the in-house press shop at Johnson Controls and then at D.C. Ellington until his retirement. Eddie was a family man and will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his love of music. He spent several years as a stay at home Dad, raising his two beautiful daughters. Before his health began to fail, he enjoyed camping, traveling and being dragged along hiking by family and friends.
The family would like to thank St. Luke's Respiratory ICU and Zilber Hospice for their outstanding and compassionate care in his final days. Ed's family asks that in memory of our loved one, if you, a loved one or just someone you know, smokes, please quit or urge them to quit. It's not just a tagline, "When you can't breathe, nothing else matters" and the effects are horrible to experience and to watch.
Our hearts' are broken at our loss and we would spare you this grief if we could.
A private memorial will be held for family and friends at a time yet to be determined.
