Subel, Edward J. 85, beloved husband for 46 years of Beverly (Nee Yanko), passed away on Sunday June 8, 2008 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital with his loving family around him. Loving dad of Sharon (Gregory) Seegert, Gregory (Gina) and Patrick ''Butch'' (Sandy). Loving grandpa of Neil, Natalie and Alan Subel and Ashley Seegert. Great-grandpa of Zander Gregory Seegert. Brother-in-law of Mary Ann Subel, Dolores Knezinek, Agatha Meski, John and Ben Yanko. Preceded in death by his parents Frank and Josefa; brothers Ted and Henry and sisters Josephine and Stephanie. Further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation Thursday June 12, 2008 3-6:45PM at ST. LEONARD CATHOLIC CHURCH (W172 S7743 Westwood Dr.-Muskego). with Complete Funeral Mass at 7PM. Private interment Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. He was born December 27, 1922 on Milwaukee's South Side and graduated in 1941 from South Division High School. He played football, basketball and golf in high school and was on the football team when they took the All City Football Championship in 1940. Eddie served in World War II with the Third Marine Division in the South Pacific Theatre on Bougainville, Guam and Iwo Jima. He attained the rank of Gunnery Sergeant of which he was very proud. He moved to Muskego with his wife in 1961. He raised three children there and was an active member in the community. He resided there until the time of his death. After the service, he worked for Cutler Hammer for a short time, then as an outside salesman for Gates Rubber Company, The Frankfurth Hardware Company and Farwell-Ozmun-Kirk. After his retirement from Farwell, he worked for M.W. Marine as a salesman for several years. His love of golf took him to the Muskego Lakes Country Club working on the maintenance crew, in charge of the flowers, a ranger and until the time of his death helped out with ''course beautification''. He began playing golf when he was 12 years old and never stopped loving the game. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a life member of the Lembezeder-Cook VFW Post 8171 and also served as its commander in 1971-72. He was a member of St. Leonard Catholic Church since 1961, was a past president of St. Leonard Holy Name Society and the Usher's Society. He was also a member of the Alan P. Loper USMC Wisconsin Chapter Third Marine Division and the National Chapter of the Third Marines. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated for the St. Leonard's Building Fund or the Third Marine Division Scholarship Fund.
