Edward, born October 7th, 1931, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2023 at the age of 92.
He was preceded in death by his treasured wife, Betty, to whom he was happily married for 65 years, his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and two grandsons. He was survived by his children Michael (Barbara) Nieskes, Steven Nieskes, Susan (Tony) Ross, Edward (Pam) Nieskes, and Annmarie (Mike) Nowak. In addition to his children, he will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, other relatives, and friends.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, in which he earned a Purple Heart and was later honorably discharged. After his service, he started a lifelong career as a Pressman for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. One of his most memorable events, following his retirement, was being recognized for his patriotism through an Honor Flight to Washington D.C.
Visitation at the Max A. Sass & Sons Westwood Chapel on Friday, January 5, 2023, starting at 4 PM with a prayer service at 6 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, Inc. (Menomonee Falls, WI).
The family wishes to thank the dedicated and compassionate staff from ProHealth Hospice, Home Helpers, and Sara from the Veteran’s Administration who assisted the family with his care. A private burial will be held.
