Edward “Ed” Salas of Wind Lake, WI passed away peacefully on May 17, 2022 at the age of 81. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lola Salas (Camacho), his children, Rebecca (Sullivan), Edward, Michele and Robert, and his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Ed is predeceased by his son, Michael Salas. Ed was born in Agana, Guam on July 20, 1940. He attended the University of Guam and was the first Chamorro Islander to be appointed to a U.S. Military Academy - the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY. He also applied and was accepted into the Naval Aviator Program but chose to serve in the U.S. Army. During his time in the mIlitary, Ed married his wife, Lola, in 1961. He was honorably discharged from service in 1967. After retiring from the Military, Ed began his successful merchandising career in Milwaukee, WI with Treasure Island. He ended his career working for Village Ace Hardware in Glendale, WI where he worked for over 30 years. Ed loved his job and coworkers - so much so that he was still working at 81 and had no intentions of stopping. Ed’s unparalleled work ethic and passion translated to everything he did, especially when it came to his yard. He took great pride in his yard and enjoyed spending time outside, even if he was just mowing the lawn or burning leaves. He loved playing guitar and singing with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren but his greatest love was for his wife, Lola, who he would have done anything for. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who were lucky enough to have known him. A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, May 23, 2022 at St. Clare Catholic church in Wind Lake, WI. Visitation is from 9 am - 11 am with mass to follow.
