Donald J. Kisch, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2024, in his hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Born on August 11, 1948, to a loving family in Cudahy, he lived a full life marked by dedication, humor, and an unwavering love for his family.
Don’s journey began as a student at Cudahy High School, where he laid the foundations for a life of service and commitment. After graduation, he proudly served his country as a tank driver in the Army, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his years.
Upon his return to civilian life, Don embarked on a longstanding career with the Milwaukee Road (CP Rail System), where he was a well-known and friendly face for 28 years. His dedication to his work was mirrored in his 11 years with the Franklin Public School District, where his warmth and humor brightened the days of both staff and students.
Don's heart, however, was truly at home, where he built his family with his cherished wife of 51 years, “Boey,” Clarice (Nee Stoesser) Kisch. Don and Clarice married June 10, 1972 and together, they raised two wonderful children, Aaron (Kira) Kisch and Kristi (Matt) Cellitti, who in turn blessed Don with four granddaughters: Kinley Cellitti, Raegan Kisch, Addilyn Kisch, and Della Cellitti. He was their number one fan at sporting and school events. His role as a grandfather was one of his greatest joys, and he loved every moment spent with his granddaughters.
He shared a special bond with his nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and brother. Known to some as their Uncle Dunk, he seized the opportunity to create lasting memories and longstanding jokes. He truly enjoyed bringing everyone together annually at the Memorial Day celebration “up north.” Shared memories and experiences brought laughter and love to family gatherings. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Don loved keeping up with the weather, watching sports, purchasing jewelry, shopping for deals, and spending time “up north” in Grand Marsh. He will be remembered as the epitome of a life well-lived. His kindness and generosity was the cornerstone of his existence. His sense of humor was infectious, and his friendly demeanor made him beloved in his community.
As we say farewell to Donald J. Kisch, we celebrate a life that touched so many. His legacy of laughter, kindness, and unwavering affection for his family and friends will continue to inspire and comfort us in the days ahead. His spirit will remain a guiding light in the lives of those who had the privilege to know him.
Memorial Gathering will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes on Friday April 12 from 10 AM – 11:45 AM. Mass of Christian Burial at 12 PM. Memorial donations in Don's name may go to Aurora Zilber Hospice Residence President’s Fund for Special Needs. https://secure.aahgiving.org/site/Donation2?5055.donation=form1&df_id=5055&mfc_pref=T
