Donald J Fischer, 76, known to friends and family as "Donnie" or "Don", passed away peacefully on Monday, September 17, 2018, at Elizabeth Residence in Franklin, Wisconsin. Donnie was born March 23, 1942, in Hague, North Dakota, the son of Adam J and Clara (Scherr) Fischer. The 4th of 10 children, he grew up on a farm outside of Hague, North Dakota. He moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1965; where he worked as a machine operator at Briggs & Stratton, for 30 years, until he retired in 1995. Following his retirement, he moved to Ocala, Florida. Donnie enjoyed spending time with his family and made many trips back home to visit them. He returned to Milwaukee in 2016, to spend his final days near his family and friends. Donnie will be sadly missed by his four brothers: Eugene "Gene" Fischer of Milwaukee, WI, Willie Fischer and special friend, Lupe of Milwaukee, WI, Bob Fischer of Lead SD, Gary Fischer of Lead, SD; four sisters and two brothers-in-law: Sally and Herb Haltiner of Lead, SD, Darlene Fischer and special friend, Jim of Deadwood, SD, Diane Beck of Bismarck, ND and Marilyn and Dean Schell of Linton, ND; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and by his special friend of 17 years, Ann Mesich. He was preceded in death by his parents: Adam and Clara Fischer, one brother: Kenneth; three sisters-in-law: Irene Fischer, Rosie Fischer and Leona Fischer; and one nephew Jason Haltiner. A Celebration of Donnie's life will be held at Max A. Sass & Sons-Greenridge Chapel on Saturday, September 22, 2018. Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 3:30, with prayer services at 3:30 p.m. Donnie's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Elizabeth Residence for their kindness, compassion and friendship.
