Donald I. Schaewe

Schaewe Sr., Dr. Donald I. "Doc" Passed into the loving embrace of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 25, 2010 at age 75. Loving husband of Joan, the love of his life, for 45 wonderful years. Dear dad of Donald Jr.(Theresa), Carolyn(Scott) Maciejewski, Bonnie(Perry)Kallas and James(Karen). Best grandpa ever of Jessica, Vicki, Becky, Joe, Matt, Rachel, Jake, Nate, Eagan and McKenna. He is also survived by his brothers Edward(Sharon), Arnold(Marcy), Jack(Ann)Prey and sister Carol(Richard)Bottoni. He is preceeded in death by his parents Walter Schaewe, Loraine Schaewe(nee Bruhn)Prey and Ervin Prey, his son Tom and brother Don(Shirley)Prey. Further survived by many friends and relatives. Don attended St. Stephen-St. Peter Ev. Lutheran School, Lutheran High School, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and received a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the Illinois College of Podiatry. A podiatrist for 45 years, Dr. Schaewe cared deeply about his patients. He never retired; rather, he humbly served his patients in a house calls only role for the last decade of his practice. Doc enjoyed life. He was an avid fan of the Packers, Brewers and Milwaukee Braves. He loved trains, air shows, circuses, parades, fireworks and a cold Pabst with friends. Doc was an enthusiastic gardener and bird-feeder. Don was a patriot, having proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. He was also a humble member and servant of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church. Doc was an ardent blood and platelet donor, having recently donated platelets to a waiting patient at Children's Hospital. Visitation on Saturday, May 29 at ST. JOHN EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4001 S. 68th St., from 9-11am. Funeral Service at 11am.Interment immediately follows at Arlington Park Cemetery.
