Diane M. Schneider

May 12, 1950 — July 11, 2024

Diane M. Schneider, a cherished beacon of warmth and love, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2024, at the age of 74, in Wauwatosa, WI, due to natural causes. Born on May 12, 1950, in Milwaukee, WI, Diane’s life was a tapestry of dedication and love.

A proud graduate of Custer High School, Diane’s zest for knowledge and community service manifested in her long and fulfilling career with the Greenfield school district. Her commitment to education and the well-being of the students marked her as a cherished figure within the school’s halls.

Diane’s spirit shone brightest when surrounded by the love of her family. She was the beloved widow of Gene Schneider, her husband of 49 years, who preceded her in death in 2017. Together, they created a family, welcoming their daughter Jennifer Denneau, who would go on to give Diane the cherished titles of Grandma to her grandchildren, Dan and Kasi.

Among those closest to her heart was her beloved best friend, Sandy Schubert, who affectionately referred to Diane as her “Blue Friend.” Their bond was one of mutual admiration and deep affection, a friendship that stood the test of time and became a source of strength and laughter for both women.

Traveling across the country with Gene, Diane collected not souvenirs, but memories – each one a story, a laugh, or a shared moment of awe at the world’s beauty. These journeys were some of the best memories, a source of endless stories that she recounted with vivid detail and joy.

Diane’s love for the natural world was evident in the beautiful gardens she cultivated. Both flowers and vegetables thrived under her attentive care, and her garden was a reflection of her nurturing spirit. It was in this space that Diane found solace and joy, and her gardens will continue to bloom as a reminder of her connection to this earth and her community.

In honoring Diane’s remarkable journey, we look to the gardens she loved so dearly and see reflections of her essence in every bloom. Her life was a garden of experiences, carefully tended and lovingly natured, now left in our care to cherish and honor. Diane M. Schneider will be profoundly missed, but the seeds of her legacy will grow and flourish in the lives of those she touched.
