Dennis K Reischl, serial entrepreneur, educator, woodworker, U.S. Marine, father and husband, died January 3rd. He was 64. Though ineligible for the draft, he volunteered for the Marine Corps in 1965, served in Vietnam as a rifleman and air traffic controller, and attained the rank of Sergeant. He later received two Master's degrees in English Literature and Personnel Management, and began a career in labor relations. He went on to negotiate contracts and labor disputes at all levels of government, much to the chagrin of union leaders everywhere. He also wrote more than a dozen books on various topics, started and sold two successful companies, and traveled across the country conducting labor relations training courses. Dennis retired in 2007 to pursue his longtime love of reading and his newfound love of woodworking. Since then he has enthusiastically educated one and all about the joys of dovetails and hand planes, and produced dozens of boxes and pieces of furniture for friends and family. His son Matthew is proud and grateful to have had such a father, and will miss his hero, backyard football coach, career advisor and best friend for the rest of his life. His son Brian is a better man for having known him, and will always miss his chess partner, best mentor in matters great and small, and lifelong role model. His grandsons Clayton, Craig and Carter will miss Grandpa's kidding, joking and teasing, and good-natured spirit. His wife Cris is thankful for their 40 years together as lovers, life partners and best friends. She will miss his ability to make her laugh. He is also survived by his father, Ed, his brother, Ted, and a host of other family and friends. A visitation will be held at Max A. Sass & Sons Mission Hills Chapel on Saturday, January 8th from 11 AM to 1 PM. At 1:00 those who wish to share stories and memories will have an opportunity to speak to the group. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
