DADS JOURNEY TO HEAVEN On Sunday, December 3, Dad was taken to Waukesha Memorial Hospital after complaining of severe stomach pains over the weekend. Tests showed internal bleeding and surgery was performed to repair a perforated bowel. Surgery went well, but coming out of anesthesia, his behavior was combative and unusual. A CT scan and subsequent MRI showed bleeding on his brain which indicated a possible stroke. A few days later, pneumonia set in as his right lung had filled with fluid. Doctors continued to explore reasons for the bleeding on his brain and on Tuesday, December 12, a follow-up MRI showed the definite formation of a Glioblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor. By Friday, December 15, his case had been thoroughly reviewed and his diagnosis was confirmed. The cancer was extremely aggressive and Dad passed away on Tuesday, December 19. We consider it a blessing that Dad never knew his final diagnosis. On Wednesday, November 29, he had danced with his polka partners, and on Thursday the 30th, he met as usual with his life-long friends and bowling buddies. We remember our lively and vibrant father who loved and enjoyed times with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family members and friends right up to the very end. Keep dancing, Dad! Prost!
