Deborah Sue Roberson (nee Buczkowski) born February 14, 1954, and passed from this life on October 16, 2020, after a tragic accident while horseback riding. She passed peacefully with her husband and son at her side. Debbie is reunited in heaven with her beloved parents, Henry and Marie (Palasz) Buczkowski. She is survived by her husband, Eric Roberson and son, Shane (Valerie) Derby, her sisters, Rosalie (Alton) Schaefer, Carol (Jim) Orr, Laurie (Joe) Kozelek. Through marriages and chosen family, Deb became a beloved stepmother to Whitney, Samantha, and Victoria, grandmother to Madeline, Mackenzie, Tonika, and Riley, and godmother to Darlene, Amy, Dan, Kyle, Brayden, Alyssa and Jamie. She is further survived by her in-laws, Bob and Pat Roberson, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Daniel, Robert (Veronica), Michael, Theresa, Mark, dear friends Kris, Kathi and Gina, nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved community of extended family members and friends, including their loyal pets Morgan, Phoenix, Drifter, Cody, Sis, and Holly. Debbie was born and raised in South Milwaukee and graduated from South Milwaukee High School. Her loving, loyal and selfless spirit meant a life dedicated to exemplary service and the well-being of others. First over the counter at Witt’s Family Restaurant, then in her 25-year career as a deputy with the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department (a shining member of the Honor Guard and Association Board member). It was here she met the love of her life, Eric. Her work ethic continued long after her retirement by building and maintaining the farm she and Eric established; she only slowed for a year when she successfully battled breast cancer. Over their 27 years of marriage, Deb and Eric built not one, but two dream homes together; always with the focus on entertaining family and friends. Anyone who’s ever been to Roberson’s Lucky Stars knows that it was Deb’s slice of heaven. It was more than a home, it was the gathering place where all were welcome: family, friends and strangers alike knew that when they were here, they belonged. In her retirement, Deb found more peace and contentment than most find in their lifetimes. On Saturday, October 10, Deb went out for a ride; at 66 years young, Deb was strong, healthy, and tough, but a fall from her horse resulted in a head injury that was simply too serious to overcome. Her death leaves red cowboy boots too big to fill, and we’ll forever miss her dazzling smile, her gift for bringing people together, and her genuine love of life. Even so, we know she wouldn’t want us to find ourselves in a rut of grief: We’ll celebrate her joyful reunion with Wyatt, Bandit, Red, Mia, Cami, Garth, Max, Maxmillian, James, Virgil, and Honey at the Rainbow Bridge. We’ll share our special memories of Deb, and her wishes for “Love, Luck, and Laughter” will remain with us; whenever we’re lost, we can ask ourselves “What Would Debbie Do?” and know she’s always there. The family would like to thank the Oak Creek Fire Department, Oak Creek and Caledonia Police Departments and the medical staff at Froedtert Hospital for the outstanding care and compassion they extended to Deb. In lieu of flowers, our family encourages you to give generously to charities that were close to her heart: Caledonia Conservatory, C.O.P.S., Wisconsin Humane Society, CaringBridge, or an organization of your choice. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the MAX A. SASS & SONS MISSION HILLS CHAPEL- FRANKLIN, WI (8910 W. DREXEL AVE) on Thursday October 29, 2020 from 1 - 3:30 PM with the Memorial Service at 3:30 PM. Private Interment.
