Dean Arthur Wollitz

Wollitz, Dean Arthur "Deano". Died February 19, 2010, at Clement Manor Health Center of natural causes surrounded by his loving family. Dean was born on May 25, 1925 in Lake Mills, Wisconsin, to Edward and Alvina (Nee Koerber) Wollitz. He graduated from high school in Glendale, CA. and returned home to Wisconsin. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict where he was awarded the Purple Heart. In 1952 he married the love of his life, Florence Szalacinski. He was an auto mechanic and small business owner of Dean's Hometown Service until his retirement. Member of the Korean War Branch Chapter 227 and Billy Mitchell No. 388. Proud member of the St. Martin of Tours Grandparents Auxiliary. He and Florence have been parishioners of St. Matthias Catholic Church for over 50 years. Dean enjoyed carpentry and woodworking, sports, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family. A dedicated husband and father, brother, uncle and friend, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Dean is survived by his wife Florence, his children, Jeff (Randy Kammer); Judy Edwards and Cindy. Beloved "Grandpop pop" to Therese Edwards. Preceded in death by his parents, Brothers, Paul, John, and Leo Wollitz; his in laws Joseph and Victoria Szalacinski, Brothers and sister in law Joseph, Edward, Chester, Christine (Spargur) and Raymond Szalacinski. Further survived by his sister in law Helen Michalek and brother in law Harry Szalacinski along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 9306 W. Beloit Rd., Tuesday February 23, 9-9:45am. Mass of Christian Burial 10 am. Burial at St. Adalbert Cemetery to follow. In Lieu of flowers, memorial and donations will be appreciated to the D.A.V.; Clement Manor and the St. Martin of Tours Parish School. A special thank you to the entire staff at Clement Manor for the love, care and compassion shown to Dean and his family over the past months.
