David L. Jordan

January 7, 1938 - January 28, 2023

David Lloyd Jordan passed away peacefully on January 28, 2023, at the age of 85. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Helyn (nee Schultz) Jordan. Loving father of Jeffrey (Karen) Jordan, Scott (Joann) Jordan, and Pamela (Timothy) Adams. Proud grandfather of Sarah (Marty) Bushman, David (Heather) Jordan, Laura (Zach) Sowle, Vanessa Jordan, and Abby (Chris) Heiberg; dear great-grandpa of Caroline and Andrew Bushman, and Melanie Jordan. He is also survived by his brother, K. Thomas Jordan, and sister, Jeanne Benson; cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Dave was born in Ontonagon, Michigan. His family moved to Shorewood, Wisconsin, before he started seventh grade. He attended Shorewood High School where he met Helyn. Dave graduated in 1956; he and Helyn married in 1960.

After high school, Dave completed an apprenticeship at Artos Engineering, and ultimately advanced to a manager position. During this time, Dave also attended Milwaukee School of Engineering, earning an Associate’s degree in Industrial Management. He later joined Clarke Manufacturing in Milwaukee, where he was a part-owner and plant manager until his retirement.

Annual summer vacations while his kids were younger took the family to places across the United States. Camping trips often found the family at various Wisconsin state parks, including Mauthe Lake, Devil’s Lake, and Peninsula.

Dave dearly loved his grandchildren and the time he spent with them. This often included attending their activities and sporting events, and later playing golf and travelling with them. And then most recently, seeing three great-grandchildren join the greater family was especially heartwarming.

An avid Packer fan, Dave attended many games both in Milwaukee and Green Bay. He also had a deep interest in U.S. colonial and Civil War history, and visited many historical sites in the eastern and southern U.S. And chocolate—mostly Hershey’s kisses of any size—was also a favorite.

A celebration of Dave’s life will take place Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at Max A. Sass & Sons Funeral Home, Greenridge Chapel (4747 S. 60th St., Greenfield, WI). Visitation is 10 a.m. until time of service. Private interment is at Chapel Hill Memorial Park, Greenfield, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dave’s name to the International Crane Foundation , or the Friends of Peninsula State Park are appreciated.
