David H. Walker entered eternal life on August 29, 2024 at the age of 93. He was such a kind, loving man and was referred to as the "consummate gentleman". Born on October 28, 1930, he was raised in Wauwatosa and graduated from Wauwatosa East High School. After attending Maryknoll Seminary, he graduated from Loyola University. He enjoyed a long and distinguished career with the Internal Revenue Service. On October 10, 1959, he married the love of his life, Thelma J. Walker (nee Krosinski). They planted their roots in Greendale, committed to raising their five children there. Dave was a deeply spiritual man and he and Thelma were long time members of St. Alphonsus parish. While there, Dave served on many committees including Parish Council, Human Concerns, jail ministry, food pantry, and resettling of refugees. He also cherished his time as a volunteer for Reading Buddies at the local elementary school and teaching English as a second language. Dave enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing tennis, and attending many events for his children and grandchildren. Planning and taking vacations were a passion of his and he and Thelma took many trips throughout the US and overseas.
David was preceded in death by his parents Thomas E. Walker and Aleta C. Walker (nee Chadek), his siblings Wade, John, Thomas, Elizabeth (Strigenz) and his son Phillip. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Thelma J. Walker, his children Susan (Daniel)Heinritz, Brenda (David) Szymuszkiewicz, Michael Walker (Richard Brunner) and Barbara (Mark) Borden, as well as his grandchildren Kelly (Mark) Blackburn, Stephanie Heinritz, Adam Heinritz, Matthew (Jessica) Szymuszkiewicz, Todd Szymuszkiewicz, David (Jessica) Walker, Josh Lindsley (fiance' Laura), Wesley (Rachel) Borden, Douglas (Amity) Borden, Alexander (Kailey) Borden, Lucas Borden, Roxanne Adams, Jordan (David) Edwards, Aaron Bucholtz and Megan Bucholtz. He is further survived by his sister Mary Louise (John) Closs and Thomas II (Mary Jean) Walker. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, friends, and other cherished family members.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the nursing and medical staff at Aurora Medical Center Summit for their exceptional care during Dave's last few months.
Visitation will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 6060 W. Loomis Rd., Greendale, WI 53129 on Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 9:00am – 10:45am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Private entombment at Mount Olivet Cemetery at a later date.
