David E. Lynch, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2023, in Franklin, Wisconsin. Born on October 16, 1932, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, David was known for his intelligence, humor, and loving nature. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
David was the beloved husband of Joanne (Hagberg) Lynch, with whom he shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted father to his son Kevin (Heidi) Lynch and was predeceased by his two sons Michael (the late Cindy) Lynch and David James Lynch. David was a proud grandpa to James (Kellie) Lynch and Samantha (Cord) Hansen and a doting great-grandpa to Elena, Elliott, Ethan, Harper, and Brooks. He is also survived by his siblings Kenneth (Joan) Lynch and Bonnie (the late Jerry) Chesky, and was preceded in death by his sister Irene (the late Bill) Long, sister Kathleen (the late Bob) Brodhagen and by his sister-in-law Arlene Lynch. David will be fondly remembered and missed by his many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He was the son of the late David and Henrietta Lynch.
A proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, David earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He went on to have a successful career at Bucyrus-Erie, where he worked for 39 years. David was known for his award-winning drill design, a testament to his intelligence and dedication to his profession. In addition to his professional accomplishments, David proudly served in the United States Army, further demonstrating his commitment to his country and community.
Throughout his life, David was an active member of the Greendale Community Church, where he found solace and fellowship. He was also deeply involved in the lives of his children, serving as the pack leader of Cub Scout Troop 506 while his boys were growing up. David's dedication to his family and community was evident in the countless hours he spent volunteering his time and talents to various organizations and activities.
One of David's favorite pastimes was spending time with his family at their cottage, fishing on Lake Buckatabon. These cherished memories will live on in the hearts of his loved ones, as they remember the laughter, love, and joy that filled those days.
David's intelligence, humor, and loving nature will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, dedication, and service to his family, friends, and community will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Visitation will be held at the Max Sass Funeral Home-Mission Hills Chapel on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 4 PM until time of service at 6 PM. He will be laid to rest at Wisconsin Memorial Park Cemetery.
