Darlene Grace Peterson, 84, just shy of her 85th birthday on August 28th, unexpectedly went to be with our Lord and Savior on August 7, 2023, in the peace of her own home.
Darlene was a 3rd generation Milwaukeean and lived in Milwaukee her entire life. She found love numerous times, lastly with Jerry Langston, who was waiting in Heaven to greet her. She gave birth to 5 children. Darlene was primarily a bartender/bar owner for most of her working life. (Special thanks to Dale, Dale Jr., Mike and other friends who were like family to her.) She was a dedicated Packers and Brewers fan and even kept her own personal stats on the teams. Her apartment was decorated with her team spirit. Just a few years ago she attended 12 Brewer games in one season. She enjoyed participating in neighborhood bar betting pools and often was a winner (at least enough to break even). She loved playing shuffleboard bowling and bar dice. Darlene was also an avid crossword/number puzzle aficionado. She loved hardcover novels and usually was reading at least 2 books at a time. She made time to read her Bible and several devotionals daily. Darlene loved retro tv and game shows, especially Jeopardy.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude to Community Care for the Elderly and the P.A.C.E. Program (especially Kathy, Dr. Fikes, Mirta, Dora, Judy, Tonya, Pat & Leslie) who for 19 years helped enrich Darlene’s life with their love and care and made it possible for her to achieve her final wish of being able to stay in her apartment. Much love and gratitude also goes to Yara and Abi of Boulevard Apartments where she lived for 25 years. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Community Care for the Elderly, 205 Bishops Way, Brookfield, WI 53005
Isaiah 35:10 - Those the Lord has rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.
Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.
