Daniel Frederick Hornak, 91 of Milwaukee, WI, fell asleep in the Lord on September 21st, 2015. He was born to the late John and Mary (Jankejech) Hornak on June 2nd, 1924, the sixth of eight siblings. Daniel was a decorated veteran of the Second World War and participated in the Allied Invasion of Normandy beach on D-Day. After the War he perused a higher education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and obtained a Master's degree in Education. He became a beloved teacher and administrator in the Milwaukee Public School system. He had many side interests and excelled at everything he put his mind to. He played a number of instruments, most notably the accordion, which he played with a band. He was a handyman and was able to work through almost any electrical or plumbing problem - he was even able to build three houses. He loved airplanes and was an avid pilot. He was also known to be an exceptional golfer. Most importantly, however, Daniel was a beloved son, brother, uncle, husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife Margaret Elaine Hornak (ne Ackerman), whom he lost to cancer in 1986. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Rudolph, Joseph, John, Edward, and Eugene Hornak, and sister Helen Kubiak. He is survived by daughter Jeann (Les) Hornak-Baker and son Thomas (Kristine) Hornak, by grandchildren Daniel, Kirk, and John Baker, and Ryan (Krueger), Austin, and Elizabeth Hornak, by brother Francis (Lynn) Hornak, and by beloved family friend William Marris. Visitation at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10302 S. 27th St. Oak Creek, on Saturday September 26th, 2-4pm. Funeral service at 4pm. Burial will be at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 21731 Spring St, Union Grove, WI. Monday, September 28, 2pm. please meet at the cemetery.
