Daniel A. Schweitzer passed on to his next adventure on December 29, 2021, at 64 years of age after a brief battle with cancer. Dan was born in 1957 to Vernon and Lois (Bonnert) Schweitzer as the second of six children. He married Laurie Waldoch in 1980 and together they raised two daughters, Kelly and Kayla. Dan was a member of Boilermaker’s Local 107 for 36 years, where he often traveled to many different job sites across the upper Midwest and also met many of his lifelong friends. Dan was most at home hiking up a mountain or boogie boarding in the ocean. He loved to travel and spent many summers camping with his family and friends, until he discovered the beaches were better in Puerto Vallarta or Dominican Republic. At home, he enjoyed hiking, biking and attending local festivals with Laurie and exploring the Milwaukee area parks, which he especially enjoyed sharing with his granddaughter Sophia. Dan left a mark on many people’s lives in different ways. He was a loving father and husband who cherished time with family. He was frequently found in his woodworking shop, lovingly building display cases, doll houses, or useful pieces for around the house. His thoughtful consideration to detail in everything he did caused his opinions to be held in high regard by many and will forever leave those who knew him asking “WWDD – What Would Dan Do?” Dan was preceded in death by his father, Vernon, and his brothers, Randy and Kenny. He is survived by his wife, Laurie, daughters Kelly (Jeff) Peplinski and Kayla Schweitzer, granddaughter Sophia Peplinski, mother Lois Schweitzer, brother Tom (Michelle) Schweitzer, sisters Jean (Shawn) Goggins and Lisa (Jesse) Fahning, mother-in-law Marilyn (Edward) Waldoch, sisters-in-law D’Etta (Steve) Snyder and Pam Schweitzer, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A celebration of life will take place later this year for friends and family.
