Clifford M. Kahn

August 3, 1928 — February 23, 2021

Clifford M. Kahn, a longtime resident of Greenfield, died peacefully, surrounded by family at his home on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. He was 92. Cliff was born August 3, 1928, in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin to the late Nellie (née Adams) and Herbert Kahn. At age 17, he enlisted with the United States Marine Corps. He served in the Pacific theatre during and after WWII. In 1949, he was honorably discharged from active duty, whereby he held the rank of Corporal. After serving his country for four years, Cliff moved to Denver, Colorado where he met the love of his life, Helen (née Fritz), and they married on June 10, 1950. They were blessed with four children, whom they raised in their home in Greenfield, along with a number of Great Danes throughout the years. Cliff displayed his undying devotion to Helen many times during their 51 years of marriage. He cared for her throughout her illness with Alzheimer’s and was her sole caregiver until she passed in July 2001. In addition to being a loving husband, Cliff was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was always happy to see the children and would greet them with a twinkle in his bright blue eyes and a big smile. He’d often tap his hand twice on the table and ask, “What do you know?” when he wanted to talk. He was a great listener, supportive and thoughtful. He also gave wonderful advice. Cliff chose a career in woodworking/carpentry. He owned Cliff’s Wood Floors in Greenfield. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing on Lake Michigan, playing his accordion, going for drives, and keeping up with the latest technology. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen, his mother, Nellie Russell, his father, Herbert Kahn, step-father, Hiriam Arnold, and a brother, Carol Kahn. He is survived by his children, Penney, Jerry, Bob (Terry), Dennis (Jan); his sister, Joy (late Bill) Ritter, his brother, Bub (Joan) Arnold; his grandchildren, Erika (Paul) Crosby, Adam (Chris) Kahn, Greg Kahn, Dan (Stephanie) Kahn, Kris (Celina) Kahn; his great-grandchildren, Finn, Maren, Harris, Millie, Jack, Barrett, Evelyn, Oliver, Mila, Emma, Clarissa; and a host of other relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and will live on in their hearts forever. The family would like to acknowledge Brittany and Jasmine from Always Best Care for having a special bond with him and making him comfortable during his last weeks. The family is served by Max A. Sass & Sons, Greenridge Chapel. Due to COVID, a private family-only burial will take place at Arlington Park Cemetery. A Celebration of Life is being planned for this summer. Details to follow at a later date.
