Claudino Claudio

December 30, 1930 — March 22, 2023

With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Claudino Cruz Claudio (Jimmy) on March 22, 2023, at the age of 92. Jimmy was a beloved member of the community, cherished as a devoted brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. His loss is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Jimmy is survived by his siblings, his ex-wife Betty of 30 years, six children—Victoria, Ruth, Crystal, James, Jose and Jeffrey—as well as his son-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, friends and his dear friend Mary who was with him til the end.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Jimmy spent much of his childhood and teenage years on the island, where he was the first son in a family of 16 children. As a young man, he made the decision to move to New York City in search of better opportunities and a fresh start. In many ways, Jimmy’s experiences growing up in Puerto Rico and then moving to New York shaped the person he would become. He carried with him the values and traditions of his homeland, while also embracing the opportunities and freedoms that America had to offer.

Jimmy’s journey to New York was a testament to his resilience, determination and spirit. He forged his own path to success through hard work and discipline, eventually settling in Milwaukee, where he started a family.

As a business owner, Jimmy forged connections with people from all walks of life. His first big break was meeting an owner of a grocery store, who he befriended, and eventually purchased the store for his first business. He later fulfilled his dream by purchasing a liquor store. For the next two decades, he devoted himself to running his store until his retirement.

While Jimmy's entrepreneurial spirit was impressive, his dedication to fitness and wellness was equally remarkable. His unwavering commitment to physical fitness inspired others to prioritize their health, whether by walking, biking, running or even chopping wood. Jimmy's passion for fitness not only improved his own quality of life, but it also positively impacted the lives of those around him.

A celebration of Jimmy's life will be scheduled in June in the Milwaukee area. In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you perform a random act of kindness in his memory.
