Clarence Selin

June 4, 1919 — April 11, 2010

Selin, Clarence "Whitey" Age 90 of Milwaukee, died on April 11, 2010, at his home. Born on June 4, 1919 in Milwaukee, the son of Angeline Selin (Boinski) of Peshtigo, WI and William Selin of "Jones Island" Milwaukee. After serving his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII, Clarence worked as a machine repairman at Louis Allis Co. for 40 years. During most of his 30 years of retirement, Clarence was an enthusiastic volunteer with Milwaukee's Senior Dining Program. He was a regular participant at Beulah Brinton and Kosciuszko Fitness Centers and volleyball courts, in addition to being a wholehearted, if unconventional golfer. He also loved the outdoors and gardening. He is a member of the Collins Meyers VFW Post and active in the Jones Island Kashube Community. Beloved husband of the late Irene Adeline Selin (Jelinek) for 55 years. Clarence is survived by two married daughters: Shirley (Leigh) Jones of Evergreen, CO and Carole Selin (Paul Hintz) of St. Paul, MN and a grandson Devon Jones of New York. He was the beloved brother of the late Mildred Dominick. Also survived by his sister-in-law Jean (Jelinek) Thomas and her husband Jim of Slidell, Louisiana and other family members. Clarence will also be missed by his many friends and neighbors, both young and old, in the close-knit community of Milwaukee's South side where he grew up and lived his very full life. Visitation at the MAX A. SASS & SONS FUNERAL HOME on Friday April 16, 2010 from 5-8 PM with a Funeral Service at 7 PM. Family and friends please meet at Forest Home Cemetery (2405 W. Forest Home Ave.) on Saturday for committal prayers and Military Honors at 11 AM.
