Christine Ann (Chris) Buckett, devoted wife and mother of five children, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 14, 2023 at her home at age 80. Chris was born on February 9, 1942 in Milwaukee, WI, the third of four children, to Herbert C. and Regina (McCarthy) Kiehl.
She attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and graduated from the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist High School in 1960. She grew up close to local politics, as her father was a mayor for many years. While they both were working at the City of St. Francis, she met engineer Ross P. Buckett and they were married in 1965. She worked as a Teachers Aide, with special needs children, for over 30 years in Phoenix, AZ and Greendale, WI. She taught Sunday School and was very active in her faith. Chris was an avid golfer up to her final years, a fan of Packers football and Marquette basketball, and also enjoyed tole painting/crafts, gardening, and hiking, often with her schnauzers Boss and Gus.
Chris was preceded in death by her daughter Colleen (Steve) Suess, as well as her parents, Herb and Jean Kiehl, her brother Tom (Mary) Kiehl, and sisters Kathleen (Red) Minikel and Patricia (Gary) Lindstedt. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 57 years, Ross Buckett and their surviving children, Tom (Heidi) Buckett, Kathleen Buckett, Christopher (Jenny) Buckett, and Mark Buckett. She was the beloved Grandma of14 grandchildren: Paul, David, Erika and Luke Buckett; Sam, Neal and Eden Bauer; Preston and Lewis Suess; Cheyenne, Aiden, and Kaelin Buckett; and Brett and Grace Buckett. She is further survived by her sister-in-law Mary Kiehl, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 23, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Max Sass Funeral Home, 8910 W. Drexel Avenue, in Franklin, WI. Prayer Vigil will take place at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral on Tuesday, January 24, at 11:00 a.m. at Basilica of Saint Josaphat, 2333 S. 6th Street, Milwaukee, WI. Committal Services to immediately follow the mass at Mount Olivet Cemetery and Mausoleum, 3801 W. Morgan Avenue, Milwaukee, WI.
