Charles H. Benn

Benn, Charles H. Age 84, passed away in the home he was born in on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. He was surrounded by loved ones. Beloved husband of 61 years to Joyce (Nee Chrostowski). Loving father of Jeffrey (Donna) Benn, Jody (Rick) Stack, Jill (Marc) Wisniewski and Carla Schober. He also leaves 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Elsie Benn, a sister Lorraine (Elwood) Gruenwald and an infant brother Orville. A lifelong resident of the area, Chuck was also a proud graduate and active alum of Bay View High School. He served honorably during the Korean Conflict as a communications specialist in the US Army and was awarded 3 Bronze Service Stars. He would go on to work 34 years for the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District as a surveyor. He greatly enjoyed woodworking and was a master craftsman, having taken numerous courses throughout his lifetime at MATC. He was also an avid card player, especially sheepshead and poker and loved to fish. His great sense of humor among other things will be sadly missed. Memorial visitation for family and friends will be at UNITY LUTHERAN CHURCH; where Chuck's grandparents were charter members, (1025 E. Oklahoma Avenue, Milwaukee) on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 11 AM to 1 PM. A memorial service will follow at 1 PM. Final rest will be in Southern Wisconsin Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Unity Lutheran Church at the above address or to the Honor Flight.
