Carolyn M. Basse Basse, Carolyn M. (née King), of Muskego, Wisconsin, was born into eternal life Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, at age 87. Loving wife of Alvin Basse and beloved mother of Daniel (Jean) Basse, Gloria (Melissa) Basse, Linda (Max) Wenck and Roger (Becky) Basse. Proud grandmother of Blake (Erika), Alec, Taylor, Sarah, Adam, Austin, Evan and Andrea. Dear sister to Jack (Bernice) King and Dean (Marilyn) King and sister-in-law to Ruth (née Basse) Klussendorf. Further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her husband Alvin, parents Archie and Ruby King, brothers-in-law Robert Basse and Delbert Klussendorf, sister-in-law Judy Basse (née Nickles), and sister-in-law's grandson Brian Hirsh. Carolyn loved to farm with her family. A dairy farmer’s daughter, Carolyn met the love of her life, Alvin, who farmed five miles down the road. They married in 1956, raised four children and farmed in Muskego for nearly 60 years, growing registered Guernsey dairy cows and a variety of fresh produce. She believed in educating the community about farming and the benefits of agriculture. She welcomed many visitors to the farm, including giving annual farm tours to thousands of Milwaukee-area school children over the years. Family and friends admired Carolyn’s ability to cook, can fruits and vegetables, and grow beautiful flowers. The Muskego Women’s Club recognized Carolyn for how her home and gardens added extra charm to Muskego. If you knew Carolyn, you knew she truly loved sharing and selling what the family grew, including apples, sweet corn, vegetables and pumpkins to the community at their “little white stand” adjoining their home on Janesville Road. The “little white stand” grew into Basse’s Country Delight Farm Market. Carolyn had a special way of adding her own personal touch to the family’s farm-grown super sweet corn and juicy apples, packaging each purchase with an extra dose of care and kindness in ways that made each customer smile. Carolyn, a member of Emanuel Church – United Church of Christ in Hales Corners, Wisconsin, served as a Sunday school teacher, on various committees and took joy in decorating the church for decades. She was a graduate of Mukwonago High School, Mukwonago, Wisconsin, and enjoyed serving as a 4-H leader to many area children for 35 years. She and Alvin were honored into Master Farmers of Wisconsin, and were members of the American Guernsey Cattle Club, Farm Bureau and Waukesha Co. Agri-business Organization. Visitation will be held at Emanuel Church – United Church of Christ (10627 West Forest Home Avenue, Hales Corners, Wisconsin) Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, starting at 11 a.m. with a church service at 12:30 p.m. A private family burial will take place at Arlington Park Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Emanuel Church – United Church of Christ.
