Carol A. Theisen

Carol A. Theisen (Nee Keup). Entered Eternal Life September 15, 2021 at the age of 87. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Dr. Charles E. Theisen, her son Paul, and her daughter Ann. Cherished mother of Mark, Meggie, Dan (Liz), Jane Hanson, Mary (Tim Bowers), and Gretchen. Loving grandmother of Corey, Andrea (Mike) Davenport, Lauren (Matt) Kent, and Christopher; Elise and Ben Hanson; and Yma Hernandez-Theisen. Great grandmother of Xavier and Charlotte Davenport. Also preceded in death by siblings Dorothy Keup, Ruthie (John) Kronberger, Junie (Ralph) Hoffmann, Arthur Keup, and Betty (Lynn) Brown. Survived by sister-in-law Luella Keup. Carol was further loved by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Born in Milwaukee, Carol attended the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, studied medical technology at Marquette University, then later graduated in 1978 with a degree in music therapy from Alverno College. She was employed by Franciscan Village Nursing Home in South Milwaukee as a registered music therapist. In addition to being a polio survivor and raising 8 children, Carol led a life of service. She served as President of the South Milwaukee Chapter of the American Field Service (AFS) and hosted exchange students, as well as opened up her home to numerous foreigners. She also served on the Board of Directors of the South Milwaukee Public School System and the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, and was an active member of the former St. Frederick’s Parish Council in Cudahy. Carol shared her love of music by serving as an organist for the former St. Frederick’s Catholic Church, the South Milwaukee United Methodist Church, and St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopalian Church in Greendale. She volunteered as an advocate for battered women at the Sojourner Truth House in Milwaukee, as a driver for Meals on Wheels, and as a caller for the Telephone Reassurance Program, and provided services at South Milwaukee Human Concerns. Visitation will be held at Max A. Sass & Sons Funeral Home-Southshore Chapel on Tuesday, September 21 starting at 10AM until time of service at 12 Noon. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated to Repairers of the Breach, Smile Train, or South Milwaukee Human Concerns.
