William Terrence Wilke, known by everyone as Bill, passed away suddenly on July 8, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on June 25, 1947, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Bill was a man of intelligence, adventure, and humor. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter and love.
Bill was the cherished husband of Catherine "Cathie" (nee Graham) and the proud father of William Ryan (Melinda) Wilke. His role as a grandfather to William Reid Wilke was one he embraced with all his heart. Bill was the beloved brother of Timothy (Elizabeth) Wilke and Theresa Gardiner. He was predeceased by his parents, William August and Helen Victoria Wilke.
An alumnus of the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Bill's sharp mind and inquisitive spirit led him to a fulfilling career that was complemented by his wide array of interests. He was an avid reader, with a particular fondness for science fiction, history and Sherlock Holmes, often finding solace and adventure within the pages of a good book.
Bill's passion for automobiles was undeniable. A Corvette enthusiast through and through, he found joy in the roar of engines and loved racing, especially trips to Road America. Many days were spent with his brother Tim, taking trips to the casino, where the two shared laughs and good-natured rivalry.
Known for his generous spirit, Bill played Santa Claus during the holidays, bringing smiles and the magic of Christmas to everyone around him. His love for hot dogs was legendary, as was his quest for the ultimate chili sauce—a journey that was equal parts delicious and adventurous. Bill loved trying new restaurants in the company of good friends.
Bill's loyalty to his Wisconsin roots was evident in his unwavering support for all of the state's sports teams. Cheering on his favorite teams at his son’s house or at the stadium was always a fun family gathering. His sense of humor and quick wit were as much a part of him as his boundless curiosity.
Bill's family will forever remember his laughter and his adventurous tales. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him. Rest in peace Bill, your memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
