Betty Jane Kramer, 88, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Born on August 10, 1936, in Cudahy, Wisconsin, Betty spent her entire life in the community she adored, leaving a legacy of warmth and dedication that touched the lives of many.

Betty was the cherished daughter of the late Ladislav and Bozena (Truhlar) Tonar. She grew up in a lively household alongside her siblings, forming bonds that stood the test of time. While Betty has now joined her parents and siblings Alice (John) Ross, Charles (Doris) Tonar, Ed (Emily) Tonar, Henry (Connie) Tonar, as well as her in-laws Maryann Tonar, and Ken Landgraf in eternal rest, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she left behind.

Betty's memory is treasured by her brother Bob Tonar and sister Georgia Landgraf, her loving children, Ken (Jill) Kramer and Cindy (Brad) Smith. She was a proud and doting grandmother to Jake, Josh, and Jessica Kramer; Justine Glapa; Jennifer Bjodstrup; Ian and Shelby Smith. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Kalib and Kaliee Glapa; Jonathan Bjodstrup; Gavin and Aria Smith, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, also survive her.

A proud graduate of Cudahy High School in 1954, Betty furthered her education at Valparaiso University. Her intellect and dedication to her community were evident in her long-standing role as a secretary for the Cudahy public schools, where she served from 1966 until her retirement in 2006. Her commitment to the betterment of education spanned four decades, during which she became a beloved figure to staff, students, and parents alike.

Betty's interests and talents were as varied as they were impressive. Known as an excellent seamstress and quilter, her creations were as meticulous as they were beautiful. Her skills in the kitchen were unparalleled; Betty was a cook and baker extraordinaire, whose dishes were the highlight of many gatherings. She found joy in vacations at Lake Lucerne, where she could relax and revel in the beauty of nature.

Proud of her Czechoslovakian heritage, Betty celebrated her roots and shared them with her family and community. As a dedicated member of St. John Lutheran Church, she embodied the principles of her belief through her actions and kindness. Betty's hands were rarely still, often busy with quilting or contributing to the harmonies of her singing group.
