Elizabeth Jane Wein was taken to heaven on December 29th, 2021, at the age of 90 after health complications from surgery. She was a wonderful, loving, caring and giving Mother, Wife, Sister, and friend. Elizabeth "Betty" was born on a farm in Coon Valley, WI, on Feb 14th. 1931, and enjoyed a large family with 10 siblings. Her sisters Evelyn, Millie, Loretta, Sharon, Donna, and Eunice, and her brothers Jerome, Alan, Pete and Jim, all grew up on a farm on St. Joseph’s Ridge near LaCrosse, WI. Betty met Fredric Wein, the love of her life, and they married on May 7th, 1955 and lived in the Milwaukee area until they bought a resort in St. Germain, WI in 1974. The resort was located on Big St. Germain Lake, was aptly named “Wein’s Paradise Point” and they finally had the place on the lake that they always dreamed of. After 30 years Betty & Fred retired and sold the resort and moved back to Brookfield to be closer to the kids and grandkids. They were inseparable until he passed away in 2012. Betty & Fred had 3 sons: Ken, Keith (Mindy), and Jeff (Kelly). These 3 sons have blessed Fred and Betty with 8 grandchildren: Samantha, Brandon, Nicolle, Krista, Ashley, Daniel, Lauren, and Matthew; as well as 6 great grandchildren. After Fred passed away, Betty lived at St. Camillus in Wauwatosa, WI, and spent her last 5 years in the Memory Care residence. She is a cancer survivor multiple times over and fought through many other health-related challenges, but she always had a positive outlook, loved life dearly, and found a way to bring a smile and humor to any situation. Betty fought hard to be with us, but God has called her home to be reunited with her loving husband Fred. Her love will be deeply missed by all and forever remembered. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her Mother Marie, her Fathers Peter Schmidt and William Zimmerman, her sisters Loretta, Millie, Sharon, and Donna, and her brother Peter. She is survived by her sisters Eunice and Evelyn, and her brothers Alan, Jerome, and Jim. Visitation at the Max A. Sass & Sons Westwood Chapel on Tuesday, January 4 from 10 - 11:30 AM.
