Bernice Marguerite Goggins (nee Parske) died on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the age of 100. Bernice was born on April 9, 1921 in Milwaukee, to Edmund and Agnes Parske. She graduated from the Marquette University College of Nursing in 1943 and worked as a surgical nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital and after raising her family, at West Allis Hospital. It was at St. Luke’s that she met her late husband, Thomas W. Goggins, who preceded her in death in 1983. She is survived by her daughter, Colleen Goggins, and her son, Thomas Goggins (Ingrid Holm), two grandchildren, Annika Goggins and Connor Goggins and many nieces, nephews and friends, all of whom she loved dearly. A resident of Greendale since 1960, Bernice enjoyed nature, especially spending time in her garden and playing bridge with her friends. She was an enthusiastic traveler and reader. She had a feisty and independent spirit, and we will miss her mischievous sense of humor and her kindness. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bernice’s alma mater, the Marquette University College of Nursing, to recognize her belief in the importance of education. Please direct any donations to the “Bernice M. Goggins Fund”, which will support nursing students, at: Marquette University, P.O Box 7013, Carol Stream, IL 60197-7013, and note the "Bernice M. Goggins Fund" in the memo line. The family would also like to express their deep appreciation to her caregivers.
