Bernice M. Blazek

August 7, 1927 – August 23, 2024

Bernice M. Blazek (Kastelic) passed away peacefully on August 23, 2024, at the age of 97. Bernice was born on August 7, 1927, in Milwaukee, WI, and spent her final days surrounded by the love of her family in Racine, WI.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Blazek and a caring mother whose legacy is carried on by her surviving sons, Ron Blazek and his wife Sue, Bruce Blazek and his wife Jill, and her daughter Jan Scarce and husband Mark. She was preceded in death by her sons Rick and Dan, as well as her brothers Alvin (Sylvia) Kastelic and Edward (Marilyn) Kastelic.

Bernice cherished and loved her grandchildren: Cindy (Paul) Baumgartner, David (Chrissy) Blazek, Scott (Blair) Blazek, Adam (Samantha) Blazek, Bryan (Marie) Blazek, Cassie Chalmers, Chris (Erika) Scarce, Nicole Scarce, and Becca Scarce. Her great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Ashley Baumgartner; Ben and Chase Blazek; Skyler, Aiden, Ashton, and Aria Scarce; Hala Chalmers; and Emma and Lily Blazek, will carry forward her memories.

She served the community through her roles in retail at Gimbels and later with her diligent clerical work in the radiology department at West Allis Memorial Hospital.

Bernice's journey was long and full of cherished memories. Her laughter was contagious, and her spunkiness was always present, even in her final days. As we say goodbye, we celebrate the legacy of Bernice, who taught us the value of a smile, the importance of family, and the joy of living each day with a grateful heart.

Bernice's story does not end with her passing but lives on through the love she gave and the lives she touched. Rest in peace and thank you for the light you brought to our world.

The family would like to thank the team at Sage Meadow of Racine for the wonderful care they provided for Bernice for the past two years.
