Barbara D. (nee Lewein) Kobza

October 28, 1936 – February 3, 2023

“For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains.”

Barbara was born in West Milwaukee to Sophie and Vincent Lewein. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Vincent, Jr. and his wife Jean; brother David; and son-in-law Michael Stojsavljevic. She is survived by her brother Timothy (Kathlene) and sisters-in-law Jan Lewein and Shirley Huebschen. Loving Mom to David (Glen), Kathy (Mark), Edward (Michelle), Paul (Maureen) and Carolyn. Grandma B to Joshua, Jennifer (Joseph), James (Katie), Jonathan (Courtney), Alex, Casey (Kateland), Brittany, Veronica, Amy (Eli), Aaron, Sam (Kelly) and Anna. Beloved Great Grandma B to 21. Remembered fondly by other family and friends.

Barbara attended St. Florian grade school and graduated from West Milwaukee High School in 1954. She worked for many years in the service industry in well-known supper clubs in the Milwaukee area, was a licensed insurance agent, and finished out her working career retiring from AT&T as a telephone operator.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed traveling with her brothers and their wives, whether it was a road trip by car, cruising on a boat or being on the back of a motorcycle. Mom’s love of music and the arts was reflected throughout her life. She sang in the choir at St. Florian church, sang Barbershop Quartet harmony and was a member of the competitive Sweet Adelines chorus. She was part of the Oak Creek Community Theater. Her home was a visual reflection of her love of art. We will all remember Mom’s love for sporty cars, and Mustangs were her favorite!

We have a candle lit for you, Mom; your light will shine in our hearts always.

A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 9:00am to 11:00am. Service at 11:00am. Max Sass Funeral Home-South Shore Chapel, 1314 Manitoba Avenue, South Milwaukee, WI 53172. Interment at a later date.
