Spindler, John J. "Jack" of Franklin, WI., was called to the lord on July 28, 2017. Survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Kathleen; sons John (Shea) and Curtis (Suppara); daughter Beth Currie (Alan); sister, Nancy Goodfellow, sister-in-law Mary Wiggins Rahr. Further survived by cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Carolyn Spindler, and stepbrother, William Wiggins. Jack was born in Highland, Ill. on March 8, 1939. He attended Marquette University, earning a BA in 1961 and JD in 1964. Jack worked as an assistant district attorney for the County of Milwaukee, as a trial lawyer in private practice and as staff counsel for Aetna Casualty & Surety Co. He also served as municipal judge for the Village of Greendale from 1976 to 1990. After retiring from practicing law in 1999, Jack volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, helping construct or rehab countless homes both in Milwaukee and across the world, and also volunteered at the Milwaukee County Zoo. The couple spent winters near Tampa while also traveling to many exciting destinations. Among their many adventures were zip lining in Costa Rica, riding elephants in Thailand, building homes in Hungary and, most recently, raising the stars-and-stripes over the battleship USS Missouri in Pearl Harbor, on Dec. 7, 2016. During retirement, Jack also engaged in his passion for airplanes. As a member of several radio controlled model airplane clubs, he built, flew (and, unfortunately, crashed) countless model planes over the years. A visitation will be held at ST. ALPHONSUS CHCURCH (6060 W. Loomis Rd., Greendale, WI) on Thursday August 3, 2017 from 8:30 AM - 10:45 AM with the funeral mass to begin at 11 AM. Private interment will be in his beloved hometown of Highland, ILL., at a later date. Memorials appreciated to Jesuit Retreat House 4800 Fahrnwold Rd. Oshkosh, WI 54902
