Arthur H. Pautz

Pautz, Arthur H. Art was born to Eternal Life on August 18, 2009 at the age of 87 years after an illness from cancer. He was born on October 26, 1921 in Clintonville, WI to Rev. Reinhardt F. and Anna (Manke) Pautz, the second youngest of ten children. Art spent his childhood in Luxemburg, WI where he became a life long Green Bay Packers fan. While a student at the University of Wisconsin, Madison he enlisted in the Air Force on June 20, 1942 and served as a Radio Operator on B-17 aircraft during World War II in the European Theater. During his retirement, Art's passion for flying led him to become an active member of the Commemorative Air Force, Arizona Wing and a frequent visitor to the EAA convention in Oshkosh. On February 11, 1950 Art married Marion Schoemann at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Milwaukee and shortly after moved to Skokie, IL where they lived for 33 years. He was employed in the electronics industry and was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. In 1961 Art and Marion had one child; Laurie Ann. Art was devoted to his family, and on weekends and holidays enjoyed traveling with Marion and Laurie to visit with various relatives. Art retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1986 and three years later he and Marion moved to Mesa, AZ where they became members of the Mesa East Retirement Community and Eternal Life Lutheran Church. Marion preceded him in death on August 25, 1997 after 47 years of marriage. Art was the loving father of Laurie Pautz Ostdick and beloved grandfather of Elizabeth, both of Sussex. He was the dear bother of Donald, Greenfield. Art was preceded in death by four brothers; Alfred, Henry, Martin, and Robert, and four sisters; Ruth Lyon, Eleanor Jasper, Gertrude Smythe, and Dorothy Hoppe. He was loved by many other relatives and friends. Art's family is grateful to the staff of Angels Grace Hospice, Oconomowoc for their professional and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Angels Grace Hospice, Lutheran Social Services, or the USO (United Service Organizations) appreciated. Visitation at the MAX A. SASS & SONS GREENRIDGE CHAPEL, on Saturday August 22 from 1 PM until the time of services at 3 PM. Interment Monday Aug. 24 at Good Hope Cemetery.
