Arlene L. Bernthal

Arlene Louise (Lueneburg) Bernthal was taken home to be with her Savior on April 16, 2020. She was born in South Milwaukee, WI to Walter and Amanda (Stuessi) Lueneburg on August 24, 1930. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at Zion Lutheran Church in South Milwaukee and lived in South Milwaukee for over 40 years. Arlene was married to Martin Bernthal on June 24, 1950. She worked at Bucyrus Erie, Kohl’s Department Store and Racine Unified Schools. She was preceded in death by Martin on July 24, 2018. Marty and Arlene were blessed with 5 daughters and are survived by: Kathleen (Wayne) Gebhardt, Cynthia (Barry) Schlegelmilch, Karen (Matthew) Schaser, Lisa (James) Lisak, Christine (David) Albrecht. They were also blessed with 8 grandsons: Kevin (Melinda) Schlegelmilch, Brian (Emily) Schlegelmilch, Luke Schaser, Timothy (Christina) Schaser, James Schaser, Sam Lisak, Jordan ( Brittany) Albrecht, Owen Albrecht, 8 granddaughters: Carly (Joshua) Adams, Rhoda (Jeffery) Demmert, Amanda Schlegelmilch, Rachel (Caleb) Meyer, Lauren (Benjamin) Blue, Kelsey (Joshua) Rodebough, Lydia Albrecht, Olivia Albrecht and 23 great grandchildren. She is also survived by brother, Richard Lueneburg, sister Joan Radke and sister-in- law, Elaine Bernthal along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her greatest joys were spending time with family and actively participating in church services and church and school functions. At Arlene’s request, a Victory service will be held at a later date.
