On January 29, 2016 at the age of 97, Anna Stanislawski (nee Michalska) was called by God into Eternal Life. Preceded in death by her beloved husband the late Jan Stanislawski and 4 brothers and 2 sisters in Poland. Loving mother of Theresa "Terenia" (Edward) Fons and Adam "Adas" (Silvia) Stanislawski. Proud Babcia of Alexander "Alus", Joanna "Asia", Adam "Adas" , Anna "Hania" Fons, Silvia and Ernesto Matus. Further survived by a niece Lidia Dubinski and her son Christopher Schutte, a nephew Grzegorz (Jadwiga) Bajkowski and their daughter Wioletka (Kwesi) Quintyn and children Myles, Riley and Jordyn of Canada, a great-niece Sylwia Nowakowski (Robert Moran) of New York and many other relatives and very close friends in Poland, England, Canada and the United States. Survivor of the Warsaw Uprising during WWII in 1944. She was imprisoned by the Nazi's and in the winter forced to dig trenches and walk on foot to Germany where she was assigned to forced labor on a German farm and various other places. She was liberated by the Americans and eventually made her way to England where she met and married Jan in 1948. They lived in England for a few years before emigrating to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was known throughout the Polish community for her culinary skills and was asked to provide Polish delicacies at various Polish events. She was a huge supporter of the various Polish organizations that her husband and her children belonged to. Her home was always welcoming to guests and she was always prepared to provide a delicious meal. A special thank you to Dr. Wieslaw and Teresa Frankowski for their many years of friendship and medical care. We would also like to thank Jadwiga Lagiewka and Janina Podolak for their loving and devoted care of our mother and the many other caregivers who assisted us. Finally, we would like to thank the Polish Dominican sisters at St Ann's Rest Home and entire staff for making her last days as comfortable as possible. A visitation will be held at the MAX A. SASS & SONS FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday February 2, 2016 from 5-8 with a Rosary at 7 PM. A further visitation will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church (3222 S. 29th St. Milwaukee, WI) on Wednesday from 10 - 10:45 AM with the Funeral Mass to begin at 11 AM. Interment St. Adalbert Cemetery.
