Angeline “Angie” Persick, of New Berlin, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on July 21, 2021 at age 97. Angie was born on April 1st, 1924 in Owen Wisconsin to the late Frank and Wladyslawa (Wojciechowski) Salwach, the youngest of five children. She lost her parents at a very young age and with the economic difficulties of the times the family was dispersed for a number of years. She was taken in and cared for by the late John and Catherine Kozlowski and their four children throughout the rest of her childhood and adolescence. During this time, she helped the family with their businesses by working at the Fremont Hotel and Soo Cafe along with caring for her sister Josephine’s son, Johnny, who was severely disabled. After Catherine’s passing Angie moved to Milwaukee with Josephine and continued as Johnny’s primary caregiver, she was also employed by Johnson’s Candy Factory. While in Milwaukee she met the love of her life Ambrose “Moe” Persick, they were married on October 3rd, 1959. They were blessed with two sons, John and Tom, who meant the world to her and always referred to them as “my boys”. Angie genuinely loved her family and friends and continued to give of herself through her friendship and talents of cooking, baking and crocheting afghans and hanging towels along with making baby booties and hats for hospitals. Anyone who knew her over the years was privileged to enjoy a hearty home cooked meal, a piece of apple pie made from Catherine’s family recipe or receive a hanging kitchen towel (or two). She enjoyed shopping, going out to eat, bowling, attending plays and concerts, playing cards and trips to Casinos. She loved listening and dancing to polka music and learned to play the organ. She also enjoyed attending local theatre organ concerts with friends and family. She helped keep Hallmark in business by sending birthday, anniversary and holiday cards to family and friends. As a grandparent she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren in New Berlin, Wisconsin and Robins, Iowa, attending their activities and celebrating milestones in their lives. The things Angie cherished most were her Catholic faith, being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a role model to her boys, their wives and her grandchildren by demonstrating throughout her life those things that were most important and the special gift that family truly is. Angie is lovingly survived by her children John (Ann) Persick of Robins, Iowa and Tom (Carol) Persick of New Berlin. Proud grandmother of Erin Persick, Amy (Lucas) Pietan, Allison, Ryan, Emily and Claire Persick, and great grandmother of Dorothy Pietan. She is further survived by her dear, longtime friend and companion Glenn Tietyen, along with many cherished nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 24 years Ambrose "Moe" Persick along with her siblings Victoria Szymanski, Bernice Roll, Lillian Benedyk, Theodore Salwach, Wallace Kozlowski, Irene Molepske, William Kozlowski and Josephine Meach. Our family would like to recognize and thank Glenn Tietyen, Angie and our family’s dear friend of over 35 years, for his companionship and selfless, loving care of mom, especially during these last several months as her health diminished. We would also like to thank the staff at Care-Age of Brookfield and Allay Hospice for their care and support of Angie over the final months of her life. Visitation will be held at Holy Apostles Church (16000 W. National Ave., New Berlin, WI) on Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 2:00 - 3:45 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4 PM. Interment will be private for the family at St. Adalbert Cemetery.
