Alan Victor Riegg passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2023, surrounded by his children, at the age of 89.
Alan was an amazing father, grandfather (Boppa) and great-grandfather who bestowed the values of family and tradition through his wonderful stories and laughter.
Beloved husband of the late Kathleen Riegg of more than 62 years; father to three adoring children: Susan Riegg Gergen (William Gergen), Steven Riegg (Trace Matabele Riegg), and Christopher Riegg (Kimberly Riegg). Further survived by loving grandchildren Leila, Sean (Isabelle), Nicole (Daniel), Catherine, Margaret (fiance Devin), Brick, Laura, Charles, Mario (Kasey), Maya (fiance Jason), and Xaxona; two great-grandchildren Ingrid and Torbjorn; soon to be great-grandchildren Madison Kathleen (April 2023) and Andina May (April 2023); bonus grandchild Gabriella and bonus great-grandchild Kinsley.
Alan was an only child who was a proud Korean War Veteran and retired as a supervisor in the United States Postal Service after more than 35 years of exemplary service. He was blessed with brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and further blessed with nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Besides a large and loving family, he had numerous friends that were all loved and treated as family.
In lieu of flowers, Alan would prefer any donations be given to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight .
Visitation at the MAX A. SASS & SONS GREENRIDGE CHAPEL (4747 S. 60th St., Greenfield) on Thursday, March 2, 2022, from 4:30 PM until the hour of service at 7:00 PM. Livestream of the 7:00 PM service will be available here at maxsass.com through Alan’s obituary page. Private interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
